Do You Know How Much You Are Really Paying for the Protein Supplement?
Following up from the last article, once you get your % of protein purity, you are ready to move on to the next step in determining how much $$$ you are actually paying for your protein supplements!
take a two 5 pounders for example, product A and product B.
Product A costs $40 at 27% purity
5 pounds * 0.27 = 1.35 pounds of protein
$ 40 / 1.35 pounds of protein = $29.63 / pound
Product B costs $60 at 90% purity
5 pounds * 0.9 = 4.5 pounds of protein
$60 / 4.5 pounds of protein = $13.33 / pound
so what seems to be more expensive on the price tag actually ends up being cheaper; and of course other benefits come with higher quality of protein!!!
Easiest Way in Determining the Quality of Protein Supplements
Now when ever you purchase protein supplements, producers always claim how their product is the best blah blah blah..., my suggestion is - don't believe a word they say.
here's one simple way to really determine how genuine the claim is for yourself.
for example:
normally, you would read something like this on the label:
1 serving size = 4 scoop (150g)
40g of protein
20g of carbohydrate
.......... and so on with the rest of the mumble jumble.
With the example above, all you need to do is sort out the relevant % of protein = 40g of protein / 150g serving size; you would get roughly 27% of protein.
another example:
1 serving size = 1 scoop (30g)
27g of protein
1g of carbohydrate
... and so on
27g of protein / 30g serving size = 90%!!!
Now, I am sure you can determine for yourself which protein supplement is more attractive!
